Last two Tibet2Timbuk2 shows til November

Hi folks,

Shen's News: Tibet2Timbuk2 (Australia's leading Tibetan reggae bollywood country acoustic rock band) have two shows this week - firstly on Saturday night at the Burma Relief Concert in Kurilpa Hall, West End, then on Sunday morning at the Dutton Park Folk and Cultural Festival. We've been creating and recording some great new songs lately and really "tightening up our act". These are our last public gigs until November, so don't miss out!

Advance shout-out for next Thursday: On the eve of the Beijing Olympics Dendy Cinema is screening of the documentary film "Tibet's Cry for Freedom" , featuring music by Tenzin Choegyal (both the film soundtrack and live on the night). Proceeds to the Good Fortune Trust, supporting Buddhist nuns and monks in Tibet.

Sat 26 Jul Mt Gravatt: Hindustani Classical Vocal Recital by Smt. Madhuri Risbud

Hi folks,

Shen's News: I got busy posting photos to my blog last night so you can sample what I've been up to lately, including photos of "Time for Tibet" featuring Tibet2Timbuk2, and a write-up on the final Forest Wednesday with thanks to all the folks who've been involved.

I'm getting more and more deeply involved with the Indian community of Brisbane as evidenced by my busy weekend. I've posted photos of the "One World" concert where I accompanied sitar player Shrabani Choudhury, and a whole bunch of the "Tamil Talents 08" gala night, featuring students from 10 Indian cultural schools and including 3 of my own tabla students. They were great. Then on Sunday I was lucky enough to hear of the performance of touring Indian singer Anuradha Paudwal at Brisbane Hindu Temple. I've even posted a Youtube video of that one! :-)

I'm planning to attend the Hindustani Classical Vocal Recital by Smt. Madhuri Risbud in Mt Gravatt's Progress Hall this Saturday night.

Sat 19 Jul Indooroopilly: Tamil Talents 2008 - feat. Shen's tabla students

Hi folks,

Shen's News: We got some great photos of Tibet2Timbuk2 from our concert in City Hall last month. I'll post some photos of our Zoo shows plus the last Forest Wednesday session by next week.

I am participating in two Indian community events this weekend; firstly, a charity concert/dinner in Bardon on Friday evening at which I'll be accompanying sitar player Shrabani Choudhury. Then on Saturday evening 3 of my young tabla students will be performing at Tamil Talents 2008, along with students from 9 other Indian cultural schools. (Look out for my first full student concert at the Inaugural Ashu Babu Memorial Tabla School Concert next month.)

I'd also like to give a shout out to Fabio, a fantastic Zimbabwean mbira player on tour from Tasmania, who is performing at the West End Club on Friday night.

Wed 9 Jul West End: FINAL World Music Wednesday with Shen @ The Forest

Hi folks,

Shen's News: Plenty of news but I haven't gotten around to posting any photos on my blog as usual... Nutshell: Great gig on Friday night with Tibet2Timbuk2; Doch were fantastic as usual.

This week's World Music Wednesday at The Forest will be the last! I'm expecting a nice bunch of musicians to come and make it a special one.

Fri 4 Jul Valley: Time for Tibet - Tibet2Timbuk, Doch, Speed of Purple, Ranger, Guy Webster

Hi folks,

Shen's News: Tibet2Timbuk2 are playing at Time for Tibet at The Zoo in Ann St Fortitude Valley this Friday, along with an amazing lineup including Doch, Speed of Purple, Ranger and Guy Webster. Even if you can't go, you might like to buy a ticket online as a donation to the Tibetan cause.

In even more T2T2 news, our song White Crane has reached the finals of the QSong Music Awards. Have a listen on the Tibet2Timbuk2 home page : tibet2timbuk2.com We've been recording some fantastic new songs this weekend - look out for our CD launch in November!
