Rhythms of Africa
Drum making and playing workshop
Tunde Solanke was born in a Nigerian drum making village where he made his first drum at the age of twelve.
Participants will create their own African drum(s) such as Congo, Bata/Bembe or Djembe. Drum shells are from Africa and with Tunde’s instructions are relatively easy to make. The creation of the drum starts at the preparation of the shell and skin, then working trough the final roping and decorative finishes.
Once your drum is completed, participants will begin to play with the wonderful beat of traditional African music. Tunde will instruct participants how to use their new traditional African drum.
