Hi folks,

Shen's News: Wow, Global Soul Music Vol 7 was really very lovely, a lush blend of jazz piano and guitar with Asim Gorashi's beautiful Sudanese sounds and my tabla. Unfortunately it will be my last show for a while - I'd like to direct that organising energy into getting some funding for these excellent musicians to record CDs and so on.

Sat 26 Apr West End: Global Soul Music Vol 7 - Sufic Indo-Jazz Journeys

Hi folks,

Shen's News: I was lucky enough to attend the wedding of Yeshe and Lynne in Byron on the weekend, with many world music personalities in attendance. The ceremony was really lovely. I was really impressed by the musicianship of mbira player Chris Berry, who's leading the Njinji Drum-Dance-Mbira Retreat this weekend.

It's the end of the month which means it's Global Soul Music time! Volume 7 is "Sufic Indo-Jazz Journeys" bringing together Sudanese bard Asim Gorashi, jazz piano-guitar father-and-son Robert Welsh and Ravi, and myself on tabla. Core Yoga, corner of Thomas and Vulture St this Saturday night.

Wed 16 Apr West End: Burglary Benefit Gig - Ruby Blue, Chai, Shen + friends

Hi folks,

Shen's News: The old neck is feeling quite a bit better - thanks to Rob, Greg and Jerry for their healing powers this week. Australia is healing land and now that I'm getting really settled here it looks like it's time for me to get to work on some stuff.

This Wednesday there will be a benefit gig at back of The Forest to help out the folks at Marly St who were burgled recently. It starts at 730, features jazz reggae group Ruby Blue, Chai, and opens with a shortened version of my usual World Music Wednesday improvisations. That's a very special combination for a very special cause!

Brisbane Powerhouse is offering friends of EthnoSuperLounge the chance to purchase discount tickets for Woyzeck on the Highveld (South African puppet performance) this week (for info follow the link).

Sun 13 Apr Byron: Sacred Earth

Hi folks,

Shen's News: Tibet2Timbuk2 had a fun gig at The Troubadour on Friday - my first show in the Valley for at least 5 years, I think. It's a great group, and hopefully some good stuff will happen for us this year.　　Thanks to Peter Hunt for adding his harmonious voice and trumpet to the mix.

My neck has suddenly become incredibly stiff and painful. All astrally transmitted healing vibes very much appreciated.

Fri Apr 4 Fortitude Valley: Tibet2Timbuk2 support The Speed of Purple

Hi folks,

Shen's News: Once again, Global Soul Music on Saturday featured wonderful music shared with about 25 lovely people. Lovely people are the best, but organising these events for such a regularly small audience is taxing my enthusiasm.

Tibet2Timbuk2 is back in action again this Friday at the Troubadour, supporting folk/pop group Speed of Purple. Come and check out some new and old tunes by Tenzin, Marcello and myself. It's a great band, destined for stardom. :-)
