Shen's News: Having a blast in Japan, playing with so many different musicians every week. The Indian classical community here is so broad. I'm also loving the summertime cold noodles and the visits to onsens (hot spring baths).... Here are some blog posts from my recent concerts: Yasuhiro Minamizawa in Ayabe, Mari Komuro (santoor) in Osaka, Ei-Un-In Temple with Carlos Guerra (bansuri) and Yuji Nakagawa (sarangi), Pangea Cafe with Nobi. Coming up this weekend I'm playing with Taro Terahara at the World Flutes Festival in Kobe and then on Sunday I'll be playing at the annual all-night Gifu Sangeet Mela - 3 sitar players, santoor, bansuri (Taro), violin, 5 tabla players, pakhawaj, ghatam, 2 Kathak dancers, 4 Bharat Natyam dancers and a Taiko group!
I really need some help adding events to the ESL events calendar! I've tried so many times to encourage the musicians and promoters to add their events themselves but they're just not biting. Perhaps my website and email list are not worth the effort.... But if you would like to give 10 minutes here and there to add events to the calendar, and help to keep building this community, please get in touch.
