Shen's News: Tibet2Timbuk2 had two fun gigs and some great recordings over the weekend, including a song with Lansana Camara on kora (who you can check out at Pulse this Friday). It looks like we'll have a 65 minute, 10 track CD, with a wide variety of heart-warming world sounds. We are playing at the QSong awards this Tuesday, and hoping to win the world music category for our song White Crane.
If you like tabla (and surely you do if you're on my email list), please come along to my first ever student concert: the Inaugural Ashu Babu Memorial Tabla School Concert in Sunnybank Community Hall from 6pm til 8.30 on Saturday night. There will be 11 of my students aged 6 to 18 performing tabla solos, culminating in my own full-length tabla solo.
On the eve of the Beijing Olympics Dendy Cinema is screening of the documentary film "Tibet's Cry for Freedom" , featuring music by Tenzin Choegyal (both the film soundtrack and live on the night). Proceeds to the Good Fortune Trust, supporting Buddhist nuns and monks in Tibet.
