FABIO CHIVHANDA WORKSHOP ~ Zimbabwean Mbira Music, Chanting, Dance and Percussion
Fabio offers a colorful workshop based around the Zimbabwean traditional music, chanting, percussion and dance of the Shona people of Zimbabwe, where ‘Bira’ music ceremonies are based on traditional Zimbabwean Mbira (a kind of Thumb Piano) music. Participants are invited to choose from a variety of ways to join in the workshop: - Learning the melodies & rhythms on Mbira (if they have their own instrument), Rhythms on their own percussion instrument – hand-drums or shakers etc, Dance rhythms and moves, Chanting with the Mbira melodies.
Time: 1.00pm – 3.00pm
Venue: BEMAC Indoor Space, Yungaba 120 Main Street, Kangaroo Point
