DOBACARACOL
Headlining this special event is international act DobaCaracol from Montreal, Canada a 6 member world-music group with beautiful harmonies and a unique blend of Afro-beat, Reggae and Funk influences with French lyrics and wicked rhythms. DOBACARACOL are one of the most exciting acts to come on to the World Music scene and have recently performed alongside other top Canadian acts such as Bryan Adams, BareNaked Ladies, Blue Rodeo and Neil Young. This year alone, DOBACARACOL toured in Africa, Mexico, France, and are currently on a 4-week tour of Australia. Their new album "Soley" (available at the gig) is a mature and sensitive masterpiece. Flowing from slower electronic textured and atmospheric tracks to all out African trance with a twist of roots reggae.
FUTURE NATIVE
Future Native have a varying line up ranging from tribal drums & didgeridoos to pop rock vocals & innovative guitars. They have played with many top artists including Savage Garden, Killing Heidi, The Whitlams & toured with Jimmy Barnes. Their lyrics reflect their strong social, environmental & political attitudes, while their music has been described as a cross between The Living End, The Foo Fighters & Midnight Oil.
NATHAN KAYE
Nathan Kaye is an inspiring singer/songwriter and musician who plays an original blend of rootsy folk music, reggae, energetic funk, and didgeridoo. He has just returned from a European tour playing the huge Glastonbury & Edinburgh festivals. Nathan's soulful vocals, acoustic guitar playing, and conscious lyrics have similar roots to Ben Harper, John Butler and Jack Johnson.
LADYBIRD
Queensland based Lady Bird is the coming together of sister's Lani and Sheri. Their lavish live performance is one not to be missed; these sister songstress' guide you on a musical adventure that will always leave you grinning from ear to ear. Having studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Lady Bird's sound is always surprising you, and their stage presence makes any audience gaze like hynotised lovers and can be compared to the sounds of The Waifs.
LECIA MCPHAIL-BELL
Lecia’s style has been described as Indie, Rock, Pop, Alternative and even a dash of Country. As a guitarist Lecia has supported some of Australia’s biggest names such as Killing Heidi, The Butterfly Effect and Grinspoon. She played at The Woodford Folk Festival 2004/05 and was featured at Joyfest (Ash Grunwald). Lecia has played extensively over South East Queensland at venues such as The Troubadour, The Zoo, The Troccadero and The Hard Rock Cafe.
ARTHAUS
Acoustic music for the soul is how Robyn (vocals and percussion) and Thilo (guitar) describe their full and creative sound. They spent 3 years touring Europe playing Jazz and Blues bars, Festivals and the good ol’ Irish pubs. Influences Jazz, Blues and Soul from artists such as Ricki Lee Jones, Tuck and Patty, and Cassandra Wilson
This will be a totally heart opening experience as all the performers have a total passion for peace & unity in their music & share a common vision for a more peaceful world. Each performer will do songs of their choice in line with the theme.
