Fri 29 Sep West End - Pulse feat. Tommee

Posted on behalf of Talkin' the Drum...

Pulse – Friday 29th.

Featuring Tommee, Spankinhide and Trails of Light.

Featuring:

Tommee (of Tommee and the Neighbourhood)

Born in the heart of the jungle on Sumbawa Island, Indonesia, TOMMEE’s musical journey began amidst the natural & percussive sounds of village life where his talent blossomed on numerous traditional Indonesian instruments. Moving to Bali, TOMMEE entertained both locals & tourists before emigrating to Australia where he joined & toured extensively with Afro-Caribbean legends KALABASH, sharing the stage with icons such as JIMMY CLIFF, THE WAILERS, PAUL SIMON & UB40. TOMMEE’s skill on both the Kecapi & guitar crosses cultural barriers & transcends the musical boundaries of roots, reggae, blues, latin & afro-beats in an exotic mix that forms his own “Urban Jungle Groove”.

SPANKINHIDE performs the driving rhythms of West Africa with passion & precision. This is Absolut 95% proof dance music!

ZORMIWASA presents the Woodford Theatre Co’s ‘Trails of Light’ for Pulse. Up to 100 drummers, having trained with teacher Elliott Orr play the finely tuned rhythms Abodan & Sabar.
