MEDIA RELEASE
HARVEST FESTIVAL 2006

SUNDAY 10 SEPTEMBER

FROM 10:00AM – 5:00PM

Stimulating world music and dance presentations, scrumptious delicacies, innovative crafts and modern, alternative gardening demonstrations are just some of the exciting things you can expect at the 4th annual Harvest Festival to be held on Sunday 10th September from 10am – 5pm at Northey Street City Farm (NSCF). This event stands proudly in Brisbane’s festival calendar as the ultimate fertile meeting place for lovers of organic food and cross-cultural celebrations.

Located only 10 minutes from the CBD, the Northey Street City Farm in Windsor provides a unique and nurturing venue for Harvest, and allows Brisbanite’s to sample a delightful and diverse bevy of organic eating, healthy living and multicultural entertainment.

A diverse and exciting programme of performances from Afghanistan, Russia, Africa, Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, Croatia and Russia will feature on centre stage throughout the day. Your eyes and ears will be treated as much as your tastebuds!

This year’s Harvest will offer a delicious range of food stalls from Mexico, Polynesia, South America, India as well as Halal food from Indonesia. There will also be cooking workshops from Japan, Sudan and Indonesia.

The kids will be entertained all day with free activities, workshops, tours and the colour and energy of this unique festival.

With this year’s Harvest hoping to attract up to 3000 visitors, the public is encouraged to ride their bikes (where they can lock their bikes safely and for free) and catch public transport.

Public transport options include Citytrain Windsor station and buses 333 and 353 to Chermside; 375 and 379 to Stafford City; 335 and 339 to Taigum. Visit transinfo.com.au or call Transinfo on 131230 for more information.

Presented by Brisbane City Council in association with BEMAC (Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre), Northey Street City Farm supported by Riverfestival.
